DisArticle is a web server that identifies and searches articles on Northeast Asian traditional medicine from among the articles on the MEDLINE database.
The MEDLINE database contains tens of millions of articles in the global biomedical area.
Although it covers a wide range of biomedicine, it does not provide specific classifications to identify the particular discipline of each article.
However, in order to identify and analyze overall research trends in specific research areas it is necessary to classify and search articles by area.
DisArticle used a machine learning method called the SVM (Support Vector Machine) to identify roughly 108,000 articles in Northeast Asian traditional medicine in the MEDLINE database.
DisArticle not only provides a search service for those articles, but also offers statistical data about those articles, such as “Top ten ranked herbs” and “Top ten ranked journals.”
The web server can also verify whether articles other than those already identified pertain to traditional medicine.
